Carpet is in

We decided to go by the house on Sunday and measure up some of the windows for blinds etc, only to find that the carpet layers were on site - impressed working on a Sunday.
The Carpet Layers were happy for us to go around and measure all of the windows and have a quick sticky beak at the carpet.

Underlay in main bedroom (foam).

Jacks bedroom.
I must say we are happy with our colour choices....it is really looking good.
Media room.

I did not want to get in there way so unfortunately only got a couple of photos.

Dulux Red Box

Hooray, it has finally arrived.....the glass splashback has been installed.

Now all we are missing is the Kitchen appliances and carpet.
Apparently the 'big' boss (from Metricon) is walking through the house next Tuesday, then we will get our chance to walk through with the SS and mark everything (already on our list) with little 'dots'.
Bring it on!!!!

Flooboards are in!!!

Well the floorboards are definitely in, as well as the hot water system and also the solar power panel box 'thingy' in the garage.

Might need those cleaners back...

Depending on the light, they look different

We have noticed a slight discolouration - which is visible in this photo and the first photo if you have a closer look to the left hand side.

We hope the glass splashback will brighten up the darker colours???

Hot water system - not sure about the power point, thought it may have been hard wired???

Solar Panel box 'thingy'.

Our SS rang today and said that our glass splashback has been delivered and installed.
Can't wait to see how it looks....slightly nervous....this was Daniel's choice, so if it looks ordinary, I can blame him :)

Lights on

The 'cleaners' have been through the house today.  Not sure what they consider clean, but most of the dust and paint has been removed from the floor and windows, ready for the floor boards and carpet tomorrow.
Once again they have kindly left a door unlocked for us to get a few photos.

Butlers Pantry looking nice and shiny

Shower screens have been installed

Kitchen - without splashback - so looks very plain.

It was late afternoon when we got to the house so we were able to have a sneak peek at  the lights.
Surprised with how much 'light' they actually put out.

Looking down the hallway towards the 'unpainted' front door - they had to replace it as the other door was damaged.

Standing outside looking in towards the kitchen.

Door handles have also been put on.

While having our self guided tours we have found a couple of things that will need to be fixed up -
  1. Bulkhead in hallway crooked
  2. Window in living area - crooked - noticeable when you try to open and close it
  3. Wrong tap handles - after the really long process of selecting everything you would like it to be right
  4. Garage door not flush
  5. Mark on garage roof - like something has fallen through it and it has been patched up
I am sure these things will be dealt with and fixed before handover, considering we are not going to be in there until next year - plenty of time!!!

On a happier note our floors will hopefully start tomorrow.
Can't wait to see how the colours mix.

PCI update

We met our SS at the house this afternoon and had a quick tour through the house.  He informed us that our glass splashback is expected any day, the cleaners are booked in for Tuesday with the floor and carpet to start on Wednesday.  His boss will go through the house the following Tuesday and then we will be able to get a PCI date.  He was really honest and admitted that we will possibly will not be in before next year - the house will be fully completed but with Metricon shutting down for Christmas mid December, he could not guarantee that all the paperwork would be completed to submit to the bank in time.
Oh well...it is out of our hands.

Almost there...

Yes we are almost there.  The Painter finished in the house (for the moment), as the Plumbers and Electricians arrive onsite for their fitout.  Spoke to our SS last week and asked for an approx. handover date, which he has not yet given.  He did say he will get back to us by the end of the week - still waiting.

We now have a bath.

And showers - they have started putting in the Semi-frameless shower screens as well

And of course toilets.

Sink in Butlers pantry,
As I had mentioned in my last post, the Electricians were more than happy to put in 'our' downlights and fans for a small fee.  All up they put in 24 down lights, 6 fans, 2 fluro lights in garage and a feature light out the front - they were also happy to adjust our lighting plan slightly allowing us to put in an exra fan and 2 extra down lights - all for $800.  We were happy with this price - who knows how long it would take us to get an Electrician in after handover!!!

Interceptor fan.

Feature lights above island bench in kitchen - notice the Mia Cucina rangehood has also been put in.

Family and Dining area.

Mia Cucina...

Close up of the down light - no it is not  LED.
Our SS has advised us that the cleaners will be in early next week, with the carpet and floors to be laid on Wednesday.  So far everything has been going as planned so fingers crossed.

The painter has been very busy this week.  He did apologise as it may take him longer to paint the house as he had to let some workers go due to losing work through a large housing company going broke (BBC Homes).

Set up in the living area.

Undercoat in main bedroom.  It is still slightly wet.

The doors have also been painted thankfully not monument as they had originally thought.
The two doors in the middle are bedroom doors, while the door on the left is the butlers pantry slider and the one on the right is the linen cupboard door.

Our bench top has also been installed but has been covered by all of the painters material.
We promise we only had a quick look took a couple of photos and returned everything to the way it was :) It is a bit dusty but you can get an idea of the colours.

The gas connection.

Daniel spoke to our SS last week and asked about getting our own down lights and fans put in during the electrical fitout.  He was unsure but said he would look into it....true to his word we recieved a phonecall from the electrical company assuring us that 'yes' they are able to do that for us - for a small fee.  HOORAY, one less thing to worry about after handover.

More photos....

The tiler has finished all of the tiling etc.  Really happy with the overall look.

Ensuite without grouting.

Ensuite with grouting completed.

Main bathroom with tiling in progress.

Tiling complete.

Bathroom feature before grout.

Grout completed.

Close up of the feature tile in the bathrooms.

The Painter also arrived at the house earlier this week. Lucky for us, Daniel was onsite as the painter wanted to confirm if we still wanted all internal doors painted 'Monument' (black).  Thankfully the painter was happy to change this 'selection' to the same colour as our achitraves.  Having a  look through all of our Studio M selections, we have no idea where that came from.

The first layers of paint around the windows

Base coat in the bedroom and also down the hallway.
The painter said he will be busy at the house until next week.
Will go for a drive-by over the weekend and check on the progress.

Tiles and kitchen.

We met with the Tiler on Tuesday morning and he went through our tile selection with us again confirming that they were the right tiles, where they went and what direction we wanted them laid.
He was really helpful, going through all of the bathrooms and  looking at our plans, he offered us other choices with how to lay the tiles.  We were stoked!!
In our ensuite we had selected a Dark Grey tile for the floor and wall with a pebble strip as the feature in the shower - he asked 'why only one strip?' to which we replied 'the price'. He informed us that he gets paid per metre so it does not worry him what tile he lays where, so if we wanted he would be happy to change the layout.
Here is a look at our decisions - these ones are now final!!!
We changed the pebble strip to the whole bottom of the shower - which is what we had originally wanted but could not afford.

Here is another look at it, the floor tiles will also go up the walls.  Obviously the cabinetry has been put in.  Cupboards colour - Burnished wood
Bench top - Ebony Marble

Laundry.  Cupboards are all the same colours - Burnished Wood.

Main Bathroom with Pebble strip along the front of the bath.  This is what you will see as you walk into the bathroom.

Feature finished.
Really happy with how flexible and accommodating our Tiler has been.  Definitley worth a carton of Coronas tomorrow!!!

The Kitchen has also begun to take shape.

Kitchen cupboards are again Burnished wood and the bench top is going to be Caesarstone Night Sky.

Butlers Pantry

Close up of the bench top colour.
Overall very happy with the colours so far.
